ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions. SPECIALIZED
Experience:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes detailed knowledge of a wide range of public health, bioenvironmental engineering, and environmental protection directives, practices, procedures, technical methods, and standards applicable to the mission to independently review analyze, and resolve program related issues or problems. Knowledge of specialized equipment in order to conduct evaluations. Knowledge of industrial work processes. OR EDUCATION:
Successful completion two full year of graduate education or a Master's degree. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE:
You must submit a copy of transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position and must have been obtained in an accredited business, technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE:
You must submit a copy of transcripts. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in- grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs):
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of public health, occupational health and OSHA standards and the ability to apply these standards to industrial situations. 2. Knowledge of environmental health concepts, principles, methods, and techniques. 3. Knowledge of the use, maintenance and fitting of all types of respirators and hearing protection. 4. Ability to communicate in writing, with reports being technically sound, adhering to policy requirements and achievement of objectives. 5. Ability to orally communicate health concepts to all levels, both military and civilian, including commanding officers, department heads, supervisors, safety personnel, physicians and workers throughout the installation. 6. Ability to schedule and prioritize numerous projects, meeting applicable deadlines. 7. Ability to identify problems and develop innovative solutions. 8. Ability to research, compile, analyze occupational safety and health information and data; receive, screen, review, verify, and maintain documents; and resolve discrepancies. PART-TIME OR UNPAID
Experience:
Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK
Experience:
Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
